Rocket Films Africa offers a boutique film production service, centred around a hands-on client service. When we started nine years ago, we made the decision to stay compact and focused, and we have grown a small but loyal client base, carefully built through repeat work and word of mouth recommendation.

We have extensive experience across the whole film production process. From commercials and long form to documentaries, reality TV & stills. We offer a dedicated production service and the team moves heaven and earth to provide a quick turnaround with competitive budgeting and world class service from pre-production to recon.

We are passionate about film making, and it is this energy, along with close relationships, which keep our clients coming back and referring us to others.

Over the years at Rocket Films Africa, social responsibly has been an organic part of our ethos and business practice. Now with the increasing global awareness around making positive environmental choices, as well as clients growing desire to contribute towards social causes within South Africa, Rocket Films Africa is embarking on a new strategy to formalize our efforts in order to maximize positive results. Through participation in urban farming initiatives, township renewal and empowerment projects and various educational outreach programs we are about more than just making commercials. We are trying to make a difference.

At the Rocket Films Africa office, we actively recycle and compost natural waste. Glen’s garden on the Rocket premises produces fresh organic greens and veggies for our famous office lunches. Excess food from our set catering is redistributed to various organizations and any wardrobe and props left over from shoots finds its way to people in need.

We’re involved in a number of existing projects like the Winner’s Club Football League run by Siyabonga, the Green Guerrillas Urban Agriculture Revolution, the Heaven’s Nest Orphanage, Catholic Welfare Development’s ‘Buckets of Love’ program, and Glen also operates a personal Soup Kitchen which feeds local men seeking casual employment.

Our Team:

The people at Rocket Films Africa have been handpicked over time to create a team with a wealth of talent and experience that is, in our opinion, the best that the local industry has to offer. We believe in treating everyone with respect, and we have found that this results in a loyal and dedicated team of professionals who work with passion and integrity.

The team is headed up by Debbie and Glen, who have quietly but solidly built a respected place in the local and international production industry.

For me, my relationships are everything, and I value those I have developed above all else. I’m passionate about film production, it never fails to inspire me. I love what I do, I love to have a good laugh & I love cooking, I love Rocket – that’s who I am.

Client Quotes:

“I have been working with Debbie Cornell for over 16 years now and her expertise and wealth of local knowledge has made every production in Cape Town a wonderful experience. We have asked her for a cast of a 1,000, kids that can perform stunts and rollerblading grannies, and nothing is a problem. The care and attention to detail is what has made us return year after year.”

Kai Hsiung – MD, RSA Films UK

It has created its own formula through the producing passion and expertise of Debbie Cornell and that for me gives it an unrivalled edge amongst its peers.”
